All systems go as ‘unmissable’ ICE London draws ever closer

Ice London, “an event which simply cannot be missed”, according to Kate Chambers the managing director of organisers Clarion Gaming, gets under way in a week’s time at ExCeL.

The show is nearly twice the size it was in 2012 with more than 500 exhibitors filling a record 43,500 square metres. Last year more than 30,000 visitors from 151 countries attended the exhibition.

The Racing Post Cafe (S2-230) will again be one of the main hubs for those visitors.

With the issue of responsible gambling high on the news agenda one of the innovations at this year’s event is the Consumer Protection Zone (S6-260).

A programme of presentations will open to all visitors on February 7 and 8 with sessions on self-exclusion schemes, player analytics, video gaming and eSports, neural profiling, mobile applications and customer interventions.

Organisations including GamSTOP and the Senet Group are scheduled to present.

Gambling Commission executive director Tim Miller, who will provide a welcome address on the afternoon of February 6, said: “Social responsibility and consumer protection are areas undergoing significant developments and are a key focus for the commission.

“We are pleased that Ice London, the world’s largest gambling show, recognised their importance by adding the Consumer Protection Zone to its show floor. We are looking forward to catching up with the industry attending Ice to discuss how further progress in that space can be achieved.”

Scientific Games, which this month completed its acquisition of OpenBet’s owners NYX Gaming, is set to have two stands at Ice for the first time with gaming and lottery products showcased at N1-560 and SG Interactive and NYX Gaming Group’s digital and sports betting capabilities displayed at N3-130.

Ice 2018 is open from 10am to 6pm on Tuesday February 6 and Wednesday February 7 and  10am to 4pm on the final day, Thursday February 8.
